This women+ affinity trip created a supportive space where participants could share strength, laughter, and reflection while giving back to public lands that had been damaged during the 2024 hurricane season.

The crew continued vital work on the Raiders Run Reroute, a trail that American Hiking Society volunteers have supported for the past two years. Over the week, they cleared 7.9 miles of trail using rakes, loppers, handsaws, and a mechanized leaf blower to remove debris and improve access. Along the same stretch, they also picked up trash, removing bottles, fishing line, and other microtrash that can harm wildlife and waterways. The team tackled invasive species management by cutting down a Princess Tree, helping slow the spread of this aggressive plant and giving native vegetation a chance to thrive.

Each task, from digging drainage features to reshaping trail tread, was a reminder of the power of collective care. In the evenings, the group found connection around campfires, playing music, reading, and sharing stories beneath the quiet mountain sky. One night, they even enjoyed doing face masks together by the fire, blending laughter, relaxation, and camaraderie after long days of trail work.

Throughout this volunteer vacation, the crew found belonging and empowerment in a space that honored their voices and experiences. This trip meant so much for all the women who were able to be together, sharing in each other’s strength and the beauty of creating something lasting side by side.

Stay connected by joining an upcoming Volunteer Vacation and watching for our 2026 trip calendar. Sign up for our newsletter for updates and opportunities.

At Virginia’s beloved Hungry Mother State Park, an all women+ volunteer group came together for a weekend of purpose and connection.

[650,9

post-53823","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-volunteer-vacations

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.3 (Yoast SEO v26.9) -
