From trail rehabilitation and erosion control to historic cemetery maintenance and cave restoration, the team played a vital role in protecting the park\u2019s unique karst terrain and rich cultural heritage. \u201cWe did good hard work repairing and building post and rail fences on Friday,\u201d one volunteer shared proudly, reflecting the crew\u2019s dedication to hands-on conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The week\u2019s highlight came on Saturday during a canoe-based cleanup along the Green River, where volunteers paddled through peaceful waterways, collecting litter and helping keep this scenic stretch of Kentucky pristine. \u201cThe canoeing Green River cleanup was definitely my favorite part,\u201d one participant said. \u201cIt was such a beautiful way to give back while getting to explore the park from the water.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/americanhiking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img-7514-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-53731\" srcset=\"https:\/\/americanhiking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img-7514-800x600.jpg 800w, https:\/\/americanhiking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img-7514-550x413.jpg 550w, https:\/\/americanhiking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img-7514-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/americanhiking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img-7514-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/americanhiking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/img-7514-1920x1440.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo Credit: Amanda Sinele<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In their free time, volunteers joined a guided tour through Mammoth Cave\u2019s vast underground chambers, marveling at the scale and mystery of the formations hidden beneath their feet.
